When it comes to placing a value on an antique rug, beauty is in the eye of the beholder and there is no accounting for taste. But a true and accurate appraisal takes science into account as much as art.
Rumzi Kaoud is a Darwinian scholar of antique oriental rugs. He has grown up in a world of the primitive, tribal artisans who bring us the Kazaks, Sarouks, Keshans, Bidjars and Heratis we proudly and lovingly adorn our homes with, and he has developed an understanding of their art which comes only from a lifetime of study.
A rug appraisal from Kaoud Antique Rugs is about much more than just a size and a value; it’s a history lesson on your rug. We want you to learn something about your rug. Obviously, we provide the technical requirements of an appraisal: replacement value, fair market value, salvage value, etc., and in calculating these assessments, we take availability, marketplace demand, origin, qualities and colors into account. But there is quite a bit of history in your rug that you may not know and that understanding will enhance the value you get from ownership.
We prefer to do rug appraisals in person, either on premises or off-site depending on the situation. We will make preliminary evaluations based upon an emailed photographed; our email address is appraisals@kaoudantiquerugs.com.
